Transferring contacts from one device to another is a handy task, especially when the devices are of two different vendors. Like you can transfer contacts between two Nokia phones using OVI online contacts, but what if you have to transfer contacts from your Nokia phone to your iPhone? Well, doing so is pretty handy tasks and it may end up taking a lot of time of yours. Also practically there is not any way using which you can do so.

The contacts in Nokia are saved on a website Ovi.com which doesn’t provide a way to export your contacts to any other platform. You can just synchronize the contacts in your Nokia device. Once you move from Nokia platform to another, your contacts are kinda locked in Nokia online cloud. So the question arises, how can we get our contacts without any Nokia device and how can we export the contacts to any other device?
Till now, neither OVI nor the desktop software (Nokia OVI suite) offered any option of exporting the contacts. But now there is an easy solution for doing so.
Nokia is discontinuing online contacts service. It means the service will still be there, but the users will not be able to explore the contacts from their desktop browser. In the same process, Nokia has started a microsite exportcontacts.ovi.com , where you can download the entire address book stored in your OVI account in CSV format. You won’t need any Nokia device or Nokia OVI desktop suite to perform this task. After downloading the CSV file, you can import It to your Google contacts and it will automatically merge the duplicate contacts.
Well, you might need to do this pretty soon, because according to a mail which was sent by Nokia to all its OVI users, Nokia will disconnect online contact service on or after Jan 24th, 2012.
