Getting frustrated by the long time windows takes to copy? Here is a guide on how to speed up copying in windows. Read inside for more.
Even after having a very good configuration for my computer, when I see that 50 Kb/S data copying speed, I get really frustrated. Not only me, everyone would. Specially when I am copying some huge amount of data and it takes hours.
So being very much frustrated by that, I thought to get some way so that I could speed up copying in windows. So, after reading out some of the blogs and researching on some forums, I got a way which is very useful when you are copying from a drive to another drive in your computer, or you are copying from a drive to any external flash drive.
When you copy a lot of small files, windows default copy system goes into the details of every single file, get the origin and creation details and then transfer the file along with all those attached details. So, to avoid that huge wait, it would be really helpful if you could try to copy a single file with huge size. So read below for how you can do that
How to Speed up file copying in Windows
- Install WinRar or any similar software which is free and works well.
- Now select all those files you want to copy and put them in an Archive (Zip) file. Do not use the default windows archive utility because that will make this process very slow.
- Once you are done with this, you can copy the zip file to any external hard disk drive or to a different drive inside your computer.
- You can even keep the zip file for your reference and extract the data whenever you need. It will save time as well as space on your hard disk drive.
This procedure will surely help you to get rid of that frustration while copying files and you too can save some precious time. Let me know if it was helpful for you. If you have any doubt related to this or anything else, let me know in the comments section and I will try my level best to solve that for you.

Well post my dear friend!Well i uses Tera Copy for increasing copying speed!.. without using any software my copying speed sucks..
Not only you, every windows user face the same prob. Mac is always better when it comes to files transfer..
Dont you think that the putting files into an archieve takes a lot of time?
And another point you could have added is that, the better performance part in the device manager if you are copying to an external harddrive or a flash drive.
Thanks for your points Shashank. I will surely add it..
