Windows 8 has finally been launched officially by Microsoft yesterday. There was a great hype going on about this new product from Microsoft and now when it is launched, everyone is getting excited to try it out and experience the great new features Microsoft has embedded in it. The best thing in newly launched Windows 8 is, It comes with an inbuilt Windows Defender and you will not need a particular AntiVirus program to keep your computer safe from virus and other threats occurring online or offline.
If you have already used Windows 8′s pre launch versions i.e. Developer preview and consumer preview, you would a bit familiar with the new metro UI, Microsoft has launched with this. Otherwise If you are a first time user, it will be a bit difficult for you to get familiar with this newly looking interface. It might take you a day or two before you become familiar with this style.
System Requirements for Windows 8 :
If you want to install the 32 bit version of Windows 8, you will need 1 GB RAM, 16 GB Hard Disk and 1GHz processor. However if you are going to use the 64 bit version , you will need at least 2 GB of RAM. Additional graphics memory is recommended to run this operating system without any such headaches.
Steps to upgrade to Windows 8 from Windows 7
Before taking any step to upgrade your windows, you are advised to run Windows 8 upgrade assistance , this will scan your computer and make a report telling if your current version of windows is eligible to be upgraded to windows 8. It will also tell you how many of your applications are compatible and how many of them have to be reviewed or uninstalled before you upgrade to windows 8.
In the second step, you will have to choose which all things you want to keep from your existing installation. As you can see in the screenshot below, you will have 3 options. You can either choose to keep all your data and applications, you can either choose to keep your personal files or you can choose to wipe out all the data by clicking nothing.
After this, the wizard will take you to the upgrade page and you can order according to your preference. If you have purchased a new Windows 7 PC or laptop after June 02, 2012 then you can get the new windows in just Rs 699 by clicking here..
If you have purchased Windows 7 edition before June 2012, you will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 by paying $ 39.99 . This offer is also available if you have a genuine version of Windows XP Service Pack 3 or Windows Vista.
Choose the checkout option and then Enter your credit card details to complete this offer. Once you are done, you will get the Windows 8 pro Serial Key that you will need at the time of installation. Remember, you cannot use this key for a fresh installation as this is only for upgrade license.
Click on checkout option and it will start downloading the Windows 8 package which is around 2GB in size. If you want to get a DVD for windows 8 from Microsoft, you will have to pay Rs 1060 extra for that. However you can create one alternate medium of installing by creating a UBD or DVD media disk during the installation. You will need to click on Install by creating media in the next step.
